Access KVM Virt-Manager from Windows with PuTTY and Xming

In this tutorial Xming is used to forward X11 sessions and allow to interact with the Virt-Manager GUI from a Windows computer. This is a quick and easy alternative to WSL.

Install Xming
#

Download and install Xming, make sure it’s running in the background

PuTTY
#

Download, install and open PuTTY
URL: https://www.putty.org/

Create or load a SSH session and enable X11 forwarding under connection settings:

Open the SSH connection.

Virt-Manager
#

Start Virt-Manager with virt-manager, the GUI should pop up in the background.
